West Valley - Mission Community College District Partners with the City of Saratoga to Hold a Large-scale Community Emergency Response Team Drill on Saturday, April 24, 2010. Volunteers culminated 20 hours of training by responding to a large scale mock earthquake drill.  The California Highway Patrol and California Shock Trauma Air Rescue helicopters landed on the West Valley campus to train rescuers on how to utilize helicopters during disasters. Campus Attacks: Targeted Violence Affecting Institutions of Higher Education is a collaborative effort by the United States Secret Service, the United States Department of Education, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation to understand the nature of this violence and identify ways of preventing future attacks that would affect our nation’s colleges and universities. Active Shooter: Readiness, Response & Recovery Seminar at Chabot College on April 21, 2010. This seminar will provide perspectives and insights on the nature of active shooters, offer strategies for prevention and response, and provide a guide for planning, practicing, and response.  Click here for more information.

April 2010 C-CERT Training at West Valley-Mission sponsored by State Farm. Action Guide for Emergency Management at Institutes of Higher Education- Newly Released The US Department of Education just released an Action Guide for Emergency Management. Tod Burnett and Kay Goss, two DRCCC charter members assisted in the creation of this document. Click here to view.

Emergency Notifications Seminar on February 18, 2009 The first California Community Colleges and California State Universities Emergency Notification System Seminar will take place from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at Los Angeles City College.  Emergency notification systems should be intregal components of college and university emergency procedures.  For more information, click here.

CSTI Offers Free ICS 300-400 Training This course focuses on ICS activities during major incidents at the field level.  The course curriculum is recognized by the National Wildfire Coordinating Group, the California Standardized Emergency Management System (SEMS), and the NIMS Integration Center.  For more information and registration, click here.
